Marshall has routine surgery

05/19/2010 - Miami, FL (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Recently acquired Miami Dolphins wide receiver Brandon Marshall underwent surgery on Wednesday that will keep him off the field for an uncertain amount of time.

Head coach Tony Sparano stated that Marshall had a routine surgical procedure, but did not specify what part of the body the surgery was for. He confirmed that Marshall will not participate in OTAs or next week's mandatory mini-camp, but that he's not concerned about the amount of time he will miss.

"There is no disappointment at all," said Sparano. "He's been here for throwing and catching and doing all the things necessary. I mean he was throwing and catching the day that the procedure was done, so I'm not even concerned about that."

Miami acquired Marshall from the Denver Broncos in exchange for a 2010 second-round draft pick and a second-round selection in 2011 early last month.

"Whenever you're on the sideline and you can't participate, especially in a new environment, new team, you want to be out there and get comfortable with the system and the players," Marshall said. "But we're doing a good job of just getting mental reps on the sideline. It's definitely frustrating but some things you can't control."

Over his four seasons with the Broncos, Marshall played 61 games and had 327 receptions for 4,019 yards with 25 touchdowns. Last season, he had 101 catches for 1,120 yards and a career-high 10 scores.
